EQ Pro Therapy

EQ Pro Therapy is a patented technology, which uses low-frequency ultrasound waves at high intensities for therapeutic purposes. These high intensity acoustic pressure waves are passed through tissues creating certain effects to stimulate physiological processes of tissue repair and restoration:

• Non-thermal acoustic effects (cavitation, microstreaming and acoustic streaming) result from the vibration of tissues causing microscopic bubbles to form inside body fluids, which transmit the vibrations in a way that directly stimulates cell membranes. This physical stimulation enhances the cell-repair effects of the inflammatory response. Studies have proven that therapeutic ultrasound helps in enhancing the metabolic activities of cells. Thus, EQ Pro treatments help in tissue repair, especially in soft tissue injuries.

• Thermal effects (diathermy / deep heat) are due to the absorption of the acoustic pressure waves by biological tissues, which improve joint mobility, tendon and ligament elasticity and help treating muscle pain.

There are four primary benefits to EQ Pro therapy:

•  speeding up of the healing process from the increase in blood flow in the treated area.

• decrease in pain from the reduction of swelling and edema.

• gentle massage of muscles, tendons and ligaments in the treated area because no strain is added and any scar tissue is softened.

• EQ Pro therapy is completely painless and horses tolerate it without sedation.

EQ PRO THERAPY

EQ Pro is a revolutionary and powerful device for the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in horses,
both in the acute or chronic phase, in a totally painless way and without the need of sedation.

The EQ Pro comes with six different transducers, featuring continuous and pulsed emission and with different transducer
shapes to allow treatment of different musculoskeletal pathologies in different areas of the horse´s body.

RED TRANSDUCER

The Red Transducer features a flat head and continuous ultrasonic emission to generate diathermy / deep heat as well as intense acoustic effects.

Flat head transducers were conceived mainly to treat flat or large areas. In any case you should always try to have the best possible adhesion between the transducer head and the area to treat, since air does not allow ultrasound propagation; this is also the reason why you need to make sure there is always gel between the transducer and horse hair.

The Red Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • acute muscle pathologies (e.g. muscle contractures, muscle strains, muscle tears)
  • chronic muscle pathologies (e.g. atrophy, fibrosis, fibrotic myopathy)
  • chronic conditions that require an increase in vascularization
  • scar tissue softening

The Red Transducer should not be used on inflamed areas, as it is preferable not to add heat to an existing inflamation.

YELLOW TRANSDUCER

The Yellow Transducer features a concave head and continuous ultrasonic emission to generate diathermy / deep heat as well as intense acoustic effects.

Concave head transducers were conceived mainly to treat smaller or rounded areas, since the concave shape allows better coupling on rounded surfaces. In any case you should always try to have the best possible adhesion between the transducer head and the area to treat, since air does not allow ultrasound propagation; this is also the reason why you need to make sure there is always gel between the transducer and horse hair.

The Yellow Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • acute muscle pathologies (e.g. muscle contractures, muscle strains, muscle tears)
  • chronic muscle pathologies (e.g. atrophy, fibrosis, fibrotic myopathy)
  • arthrosis
  • chronic conditions that require an increase in vascularization
  • scar tissue softening

The Yellow Transducer should not be used on inflamed areas, as it is preferable not to add heat to an existing inflamation.

BLUE TRANSDUCER

The Blue Transducer features a flat head and pulsed ultrasonic emission to generate intense acoustic effects as well as mechanical vibration (micro-massage).

Flat head transducers were conceived mainly to treat flat or large areas. In any case you should always try to have the best possible adhesion between the transducer head and the area to treat, since air does not allow ultrasound propagation; this is also the reason why you need to make sure there is always gel between the transducer and horse hair.

The Blue Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • tendon injuries / tendinitis
  • ligament injuries / desmitis
  • tendon and ligament calcifications
  • tendon and ligament inflammations
  • splints (interosseous desmitis)
  • bursitis
  • microfractures
  • drainage of edema
  • open wound healing

The Blue Transducer is particularly indicated to treat inflamed areas, as it has a minimal thermal effect.

GREEN TRANSDUCER

The Green Transducer features a concave head and pulsed ultrasonic emission to generate intense acoustic effects as well as mechanical vibration (micro-massage).

The Green Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • tendon injuries / tendinitis
  • ligament injuries / desmitis
  • tendon and ligament calcifications
  • tendon and ligament inflammations
  • sesamoiditis
  • bursitis
  • microfractures
  • osteoarthritis / DJD (ringbone and bone spavin)
  • drainage of edema

The Green Transducer is particularly indicated to treat inflamed areas, as it has a minimal thermal effect.

WHITE TRANSDUCER

The White Transducer features a focused concave head and pulsed ultrasonic emission to generate super intense acoustic effects as well as mechanical vibration (micro-massage).

Focused head transducers feature a very small contact surface, so that the emission is concentrated on a smaller area and deliver super intense acoustic effects. As shown on our suggested protocols, they are normally employed in conjuction with a flat or concave transducer: focused transducers are to be used directly on the injured area, while flat and concave transducers on the injury as well as on surrounding areas. You should always try to have the best possible adhesion between the transducer head and the area to treat, since air does not allow ultrasound propagation; this is also the reason why you need to make sure there is always gel between the transducer and horse hair.

The White Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • chronic muscle pathologies (e.g. atrophy, fibrosis, fibrotic myopathy)
  • tendon calcifications
  • ligament calcifications
  • osteoarthritis / DJD (ringbone and bone spavin)
  • drainage of hematoma at advanced stage / organized or calcified  hematoma
  • scar tissue softening
  • stimulation of trigger points for pain relief
  • open wound healing

The White Transducer is particularly indicated to treat inflamed areas, as it has a minimal thermal effect.

GREY TRANSDUCER

The Grey Transducer features a focused convex head and pulsed ultrasonic emission to generate very intense acoustic effects as well as mechanical vibration (micro-massage). The geometry of this transducer’s head was conceived specifically to treat insertional desmopathies, but it can be used also for several other conditions.

Focused head transducers feature a very small contact surface, so that the emission is concentrated on a smaller area and deliver very intense acoustic effects.

The Grey Transducer is indicated to treat:

  • tendon injuries / tendinitis
  • ligament injuries / desmitis
  • inflammation of the suspensory ligament and branches
  • splints (interosseous desmitis)
  • kissing spines

The Grey Transducer is particularly indicated to treat inflamed areas, as it has a minimal thermal effect.
