EQ PRO THERAPY PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS

EQ Pro Therapy ultrasound waves can be administered with two different modalities:

The continuous emission modality is employed when heating of equine tissues is desired. EQ Pro Therapy does not appreciably heat the horse skin, but can significantly heat deeper structures (such as tendon, muscle, nerve, and bone). Continuous emission modality is usually employed for conditions in the chronic phase or when heat is a desirable element (for example to increase soft tissue extensibility before active or passive stretching activities). EQ Pro Therapy Red Transducer and Yellow Transducer feature continuous ultrasound emission.

In the pulsed emission modality the ultrasound wavetrain is interrupted at specific intervals (duty cycle). Pauses in the wavetrain promote intense acoustic and mechanical effects and allow heat to be dissipated by blood circulation. Pulsed emission modality is preferred to treat conditions in the acute phase, when heat is an undesirable factor. EQ Pro Therapy Blue Transducer, Green Transducer, Grey Transducer and White Transducer feature continuous ultrasound emission.

The acoustic and mechanical non-thermal effects of EQ Pro Therapy include: stable cavitation, acoustic streaming, microstreaming and mechanical vibration (micromassage). Pulsed ultrasound emission should be employed when effects other than deep heat are desired.

The capability to induce deep heat, stable cavitation, acoustic streaming, microstreaming and mechanical vibration (micromassage) make the EQ Pro a unique and innovative therapeutic device for the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal equine pathologies.
